Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Are there any prerequisites for CISC?

In order to register for CISC, participants must have achieved and currently hold their Chainalysis Reactor Certification (CRC) and are expected to have at least 3 months of experience using Reactor to conduct investigations or enhanced due diligence. For those who have not yet achieved their CRC, you can find relevant information here. Achieving the CISC also renews the CRC credential.

What will I get from Chainalysis Investigation Specialist Certification?

Participants who pass the exam are awarded the Chainalysis Investigation Specialist Certification, available both in a physical certificate (for in-person events) and online LinkedIn badge (included in price).

For the exam, students have 3.5 hours to answer 100 multiple-choice questions, with 75% correct or better qualifying as a passing score. Attendees who do not pass the CISC exam during training are allowed one retake of the exam, enabled at their convenience within 30 days of the end of CISC training.

Participants are allowed to access the slides and their notes during the exam. Collaborating with other participants is not allowed. The CISC credential lasts for 1 year, at which time an individual must successfully recertify in order to continue use of the credential. Achieving the CISC also renews your valid Chainalysis Reactor Certification credential for the same 1-year duration.

I see my Chainalysis Investigation Specialist Certification expires after 1 year. Why do I need to recertify, and what does this involve?

The Chainalysis Investigation Specialist Certification (CISC) program teaches you advanced Reactor workflows, and we want you to stay up to speed with the latest changes in the ecosystem since your initial certification.

Renewing your certification will involve a brief online refresher course and exam which you can access and complete at your convenience. Two months before your certification expires, you will receive emails from Chainalysis with instructions for renewing your CISC certification.

Can anyone apply?

Our CISC course is only currently available to Chainalysis customers and partners that have achieved their Chainalysis Reactor Certification and have a minimum of 3 months experience with Reactor. For those that are eligible, we ask that you register with your work email address and recommend adding some brief details on why you are interested in the course. We will then review this application before confirming attendance. Please note, registration is not a guarantee of acceptance.

Do I need to travel to attend a CISC course?

Our top priority is to create an engaging and safe learning environment. Currently, we deliver all CISC training courses as virtual training, ensuring you can attend from the comfort of your home office or wherever you are!

We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and make changes according to guidelines.

How much does CISC cost?

The cost of our CISC training course is $1,499 for in-person events or $1,349 for virtual events. Virtual events included two days of webcam-based training, training materials, and exam administration.

When is the deadline to register?

Since our training focuses on a hands-on approach, classes have a limited capacity and often fill up more than 1 month in advance. We encourage you to plan ahead to secure funding, and sign up quickly to ensure your spot!

I’ve registered, how will I hear from Chainalysis?

We will contact you via email with confirmation of your course registration. We will also be in touch 1 week before the scheduled date of your selected course. One final email will be sent 24 hours before the start of the course with final logistical details.

You will receive your invoice, along with payment options in a separate email.

Please ensure you check your spam boxes if you haven’t seen these messages.

Can I cancel or switch to a different course?

You can cancel your registration and receive a full refund as long as you inform us in writing of your cancellation no less than 14 days prior to the first day of the training course by emailing us at [email protected] Note no refunds will be provided for any cancellation requests received less than 14 days prior to the first day of the applicable training course.

All requests to reschedule into a different course must be submitted in writing to us no less than 14 days prior to the first day of the original training course, by emailing [email protected] Any requests received less than 14 days prior to the first day of the applicable training course will be reviewed on an individual basis and will be accepted or rejected at Chainalysis’s sole discretion. Chainalysis provides flexible payment options but reserves the right to withhold certification or reject a registration for any participant who does not submit timely payment.

Can my whole team get certified?

Absolutely! If you have 5 or more participants, reach out to your Account Executive or Customer Success Manager for a ‘Specialist’ training package or refresher training options for your organization.
